Jim Brody heads up destination marketing outreach efforts for TripAdvisor. Jim joined the company in 2005, bringing with him fifteen years experience working with DMOs in the broadcast and internet arenas, and over twenty years experience in media as a whole. Jim developed the DMO program for TripAdvisor, and has grown their DMO team from one to six people, working with hundreds of organizations from all over the world, ranging from small towns to whole countriesw. He specializes in helping his clients navigate the social media terrain and effectively utilize both TripAdvisor and other Web 2.0 sites to market themselves. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
Ken is Director of Marketing for Canada's largest hotel, the Delta Chelsea in Downtown Toronto, and is a two-time winner of Delta Hotel's National Marketing Award. Previously, he was Director of Advertising and Promotions for Tourism Toronto, as well as an account executive at two leading advertising agencies. In all of these roles, he has had the opportunity to partner with some of the world's finest attractions, events and theatre companies. Ken is past Chair of the North America Committee of OTMPC, and currently sits on the Board of the Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area. He also teaches marketing at the University of Toronto. Ken holds a BA from Columbia University and a Master's Degree from Cornell University. An immigrant to Canada from the U.S. , Ken is passionate about his adopted country/city and is anxious to tell the world about everything they have to offer!
Stephen A. Joyce has been working as a travel & tourism technology consultant since 1995. In 2005 Stephen and his company, Sentias Software Corp., began development on Rezgo.com, a next generation Web 2.0 tour and activity booking engine for tour and activity providers. Stephen is also very active in fostering tourism technology and is the founding President of the North American Chapter of the International Federation for IT and Travel & Tourism (IFITT North America). He is the publisher of the Tips from the T-List books, a series of ground-breaking books that bring together travel industry bloggers from around the World. The success of the book has resulted in workshops and speaking engagements on Social media & User generated content around the World. In addition to his tourism initiatives, Stephen is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Website Subcommittee for Vancouver's NorthShore Tourism Association, Executive with the Canadian E-Tourism Council, and formerly on the Board of Directors of the Pacific Club and the COHO Society of the North Shore. With over 20 years of industry exposure, Edward Perry has been with WORLDHOTELS for over eight years. During his tenure at WORLDHOTELS, he began in the corporate sales division, managing sales for the Northeastern USA. His most current appointment is as Senior Director of E-Commerce. In this position, Edward manages strategic alliances in the Americas and Asia between online booking and technology partners and WORLDHOTELS' portfolio of close to 500 properties worldwide. Prior to his work at WORLDHOTELS, Edward took on a variety of industry positions in sales and marketing at various hotel levels, including in the area of corporate housing. His most recent position prior to WORLDHOTELS was the role as travel manager for Macy's West in San Francisco where he oversaw an air budget of ten million as well as the company's corporate credit card, hotel, car and calling card programs. He was instrumental in the roll-out of Macy's West's first online travel booking engine. Lesley Braby joined the CTC in 2007, bringing over 15 years of marketing and sales experience in a broad range of tourism sectors including airlines, cruise, receptive, travel agency, and tour operator. As a member of the CTC's Brand Experiences unit, she is responsible for gathering and distributing the unique Canadian travel experiences that bring Canada's tourism brand to life. Jamie Clement, began his career in telecommunications sales, working for a major Canadian telecommunications manufacturer and then several telecom re-sellers. He transitioned to the hospitality and e-commerce arena by joining VFM Leonardo in 2003 as their Director of Client Services. In 2005, he was promoted to Director of Channel Management, tasked with developing and growing VFM's indirect sales channels. In 2006, he joined TravelCLICK to launch the newly created Viz-It product which was a private labeled version of VFM Leonardo's production & Distribution Services. He was directly responsible for the sales and marketing of Viz-It to the TravelCLICK customer base. Another promotion in 2008 lead to Jamie's current position as Director of E-Commerce, Internet Marketing Solutions focusing on TravelCLICK's entire portfolio of Internet Marketing Solutions including Website Design, Search Engine Marketing, & CRM. Eduardo Mandri is the co-founder of TravelAlerts.ca, a weekly email publication that alerts over 700,000 Canadians of outstanding travel deals. By publishing 7 regional newsletters, Travelalerts.ca is able to geo-target its email communications, thereby providing Canadians with a variety of personalized travel deals to choose from. Prior to launching Travelalerts.ca in 2004, Eduardo spent 10 years launching Internet start-ups and working in the online travel industry. For the past three years, Tiffani Erickson has worked on Google's advertising sales team as an Online Marketing Strategist, recently specializing in the Canadian market. She helps businesses solve their marketing challenges using multiple products within the Google Platform (Google, YouTube, Analytics and more) and helps them develop and implement integrated media campaigns. Along with implementation, educating clients on Google's products is a huge part of what Tiffani does to help each business maximize their return on investment. Tiffani holds a BA in Advertising and Public Relations from Michigan State University.
Mike's current responsibilities include building out and leading Google's sales and account management team servicing Canadian advertisers out of Ann Arbor, MI offices. With Google since 2003, Mike worked on a number of strategic initiatives in the marketing/advertising sales capabilities in the US and Europe. Highlights of his Google career include establishment Google's regional office in Poland (now 250+ strong), working with all major travel companies (selling Cruises Online in '03!) , building out Google offices in Ann Arbor, MI and leading East/Midwest Retail team. He was also involved in Google's entry to Czech Republic, Hungary, Turkey, Greece and Egypt. A 12 year Online Advertising veteran, Mike spent time at a Chicago Interactive Agency buying, planning and managing online deals; spent 4+ years at AOL Time Warner in various sales and strategy positions where he was responsible for integration of Time Warner properties in to AOL portfolio before moving to the West Coast and joining Google. Mike graduated from Loyola University of Chicago where he majored in marketing and international business. He started his Media/Marketing career interning at Flint's Comcast Cablevision Regional Sales Office and working for the Flint Generals (minor league hockey).
Greg Hounslow is the Emerging Media Advisor for WestJet. In addition to managing the company's Facebook and Twitter pages he is involved with developing the short- and long-term strategies for social media at WestJet. An avid follower of new technology and social media, Greg is also passionate about travel and tourism, photography, hockey and the great outdoors. He holds a degree in Tourism Management and has travelled to five continents. His work has taken him across Canada and the United States, and has landed him in several locations off the beaten track, such as Cuba, Alaska, Churchill and Mexico.
As Communications Manager for Destination Halifax, Emily promotes Halifax as a year-round tourism destination through media opportunities, working with travel media and managing the DMO's online communications tools. She recently led the launch of Destination Halifax's social media strategy, and continues to learn about new ways to communicate through social media. Prior to joining Destination Halifax, Emily worked in communications, marketing and public affairs in the non-profit sector. Tony Pollard is President of the Hotel Association of Canada. He was born and raised in Montreal. He graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and from Carleton University with a Masters in Philosophy, in Canadian Government and International Politics. He has 30 years of government relations experience having served earlier in his career as Special Assistant to the federal Minister of Transport and Senior Policy Advisor to the Secretary of State. Mr. Pollard has been with the Hotel Association of Canada since the establishment of its national office in Ottawa in 1991. In addition to being the advocate and spokesperson for the Canadian hotel industry, Mr. Pollard has written various publications including "Canadian Hospitality for Chinese Guests" and "Green Key - An Overnight success Eleven Years in the Making." He is a frequent guest lecturer at many colleges and universities as well as a speaker at national and international conferences. He has appeared as a travel industry expert on CNN, Sky News, the BBC, NBC, ABC, Canada AM, BNN and CBC Newsworld. Mr. Pollard has served as Vice-President of the International Hotel and Restaurant Association (IHRA) as well as a member of the Board of Directors of the IHRA, the University of Guelph, Humber College and the Canadian Tourism Human Resources Council. He is a founding member of the Government Relations Institute of Canada and was previously the volunteer President of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. He served as an active member of many committees of the Canadian Tourism Commission.
Edward Radonic is the Managing Partner of RadonicRodgers Communications Inc. Edward, has led RadonicRodgers into the Travel Marketing Specialty, and was marketing leader for marketing programs and campaigns for various travel sectors such as Destinations, Attractions, Hotels & Resorts, Tour Operators, Travel Agents and Airlines. Some of these organizations include OMCA, WestJet Vacations, Globus Family of Brands, Tourism Ireland, Tourism Spain, Renaissance & Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Ensemble Travel and Thomas Cook Travel just to name a few. Edward is also a member of the SKAL International Club of Toronto for Travel Professionals. Edward and RadonicRodgers team collaborated with the WestJet team, and together launched the first WestJet Vacations Travel brochure. Edwards career in the marketing industry started 20 years ago with a firm that he owned and subsequently sold prior to co-founding the RadonicRodgers partnership with Toronto Creative Director, Ross Rodgers. Presently, at the age of 38 he has earned accolades attributed to his entrepreneurship, founded 6 firms, navigated multiple mergers, acquisitions and sales of companies. He continues to be instrumental in RadonicRodgers achieving Canadas Top Marketing Firm status, which has won numerous marketing and creative awards and is one of Canadas fastest growing companies three years in a row (5 year growth at 961%). Tom Wilson is a graduate of Dalhousie University with graduate work at University of North Texas. He has a Certificate in Leading Innovation from St. Mary's University, Certificate in Tourism Destination Management from George Washington University, as well Certificate of Community Economic Development from NSCC. He is currently the Director of Recreation & Tourism for the Municipality of Victoria County. As Project Co-ordinator for Broadband Solutions for Rural Development, he led his team and partners, to making Victoria County the most connected rural county in North America in 2009. The municipality is now busy working on its Strategy to Expand Broadband Applications in Victoria County. In April of this year, Victoria County will be hosting Atlantic Canada's first social media conference, part of their 5 year strategy. Victoria County were winners of the Tourism Atlantic Technology Award in 2007. Mr. Wilson is an avid hiker and chairman of the Hike the Highlands Festival in Cape Breton, a 10 day hiking festival with 24 guided hikes, an extensive evening program and distance award program. In 2009, he hiked the West Highland Way in Scotland, along with Ben Nevis, Great Britain's highest mountain, with his wife, Heather and nephew, Brad. He takes great pride in having a bucket list before retirement and experiencing new things each year. This fall, he will be hiking the Dingle Way, Croagh Patrick and Inis Mhor in Ireland.
Adena is a content editor for tripwolf.com who works remotely out of her office in Vermont. She has been working for tripwolf since their founding in 2007 in New York City, and continues to work for them though they have relocated the offices to Vienna, Austria. tripwolf is a free online social travel guide which incorporates professional editorial content from partners like Footprint Books and Marco Polo travel guides with user generated additions. Adena creates the monthly tripwolf newsletter which reaches over 50,000 subscribers, and she is also the associate editor for the tripwolf blogs. Adena is involved with most of the online media marketing (including, twitter, of course!) for our American and Canadian markets. Adena balances her digital life by teaching yoga and traveling anywhere from inside Vermont to Fiji and beyond!
Terri McCulloch manages Bay of Fundy Tourism: a partnership between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick that develops and promotes the Bay of Fundy as one of Canada's top nature tourism icons. Terri developed Bay of Fundy's social media mash-up with one essential purpose: to make better use of the organization's limited marketing budget. Bay of Fundy Tourism's social media activities are often recognized as Canadian best practices in for destinations; in particular its Twisitor's Centre (@bayoffundy) and Bay of Fundy Travel Show (BayOfFundy.tv). Most recently, Terri successfully used social media to promote the Bay of Fundy's candidacy in the global New7Wonders of Nature campaign. Mandy Gresh has served as Country Manager for online travel deal publisher, Travelzoo since leading the company's expansion into Canada in March 2006. Gresh has been responsible for attaining over 1,000,000 active Canadian leisure travelers and has helped over 100 Canadian travel companies leverage Travelzoo.ca and the Travelzoo Top 20 to drive direct incremental bookings. From 2004 to 2006 Gresh served as a producer at Travelzoo's headquarters in New York. Prior to that she worked in media relations for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts as well as Ruder Finn Public Relations, both based in New York. Gresh holds a B.A. in Mass Communications from the State University of New York College at Oswego. She's an avid traveller herself (only on a deal of course!) and is currently researching trips to Chile and Turkey.
As Director, Internet Marketing at Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, Michael leads the team that manages the Fairmont brand across Internet channels. His primary focus is related to increasing traffic to proprietary sites through SEO, SEM, affiliate marketing, display advertising and other tactics; however, site usability and design are also key areas of responsibility and were a focus for his team over the last year as they redesigned the website. In addition, the Internet Marketing team ensures that the hotels are leveraging online opportunities and develops programs and plans to help them achieve their individual property objectives. Lastly, as social media sites have matured and grown, leveraging Web 2.0 and the viral marketing opportunities they provide has become an integral component of the company's overall strategy. Michael has over 5 years of hospitality experience focused in the online space and an additional 3 years experience in online retail. Valyn Perini is an experienced travel professional with more than fifteen years in hospitality and travel operations, sales and marketing, systems, consulting, and software development. As executive director of the OpenTravel, Perini oversees the operations of the organization, including developing and executing strategies to reach the goal of standardizing electronic distribution of traveler information in the travel industry. Her hotel career with InterContinental, Westin and Swissotel spanned sales, catering, operations and systems from the property to the international corporate office. As a hospitality technology consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers, she worked for cruise lines, hotel companies, technology vendors and the federal government. As the director of product strategy for Newmarket International, a software development firm that creates applications for the hotel industry, she oversaw product management and new product development. She has served the industry in several volunteer capacities, including three years on the HEDNA board of directors, and currently sits on the HITEC advisory council. Perini grew up in Atlanta, and has worked in New York, Zurich, Washington DC and Portsmouth NH. She currently lives in Boston.
Strategic Account Director Anne Bingham began working with A Couple of Chicks in January 2006 as a content writer and has since become an account manager working with DMOs and hotels such as Destination Halifax, Niagara Falls Tourism, and Marriott International. Anne's contributions to ACOC range from webinar development and social media strategy to content specialist for online PR, websites, and more. Prior to ACOC, Anne served as a public relations and marketing consultant for luxury resorts in Santa Fe, Texas, and Pennsylvania. She has also been a freelance writer for over 10 years, having written marketing materials for resorts throughout North America and served as a contributor to Christie's Great Estates for six years. Anne holds a Master's Degree in English Literature.
Stephanie Chiquette is Senior Account Manager for ACOC e-Marketing where she develops and implements SEM/SEO strategies to aid in meeting the business goals of ACOC clients. Her experience reaches across a wide range of clients from Hotel Management Companies, Destination Management Organizations, Branded and Independent Hotels, as well as attractions. Prior to joining ACOC, Stephanie spent 16 years with Albert at Bay Suite Hotel and Best Western Victoria Park Suites in Ottawa, Ontario where she researched, planned and executed the online & offline sales & marketing strategy for both Ottawa hotels. She has also worked on various web projects including CTC Tourism Satellite account Conference and the Canadian Policy Research Institute. Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Communications & Public Relations. Stephanie applies her knowledge gained over 20 years in sales & hospitality and continues to further her online marketing education by exploring web 2.0 technologies, mobile, social marketing and their impact on consumer behaviour and buying habits.
Martin has spent the last 15 years of his career building online brands and business for a wide variety of Canadian and international organizations. Initially working with some of Canada's first interactive agencies to build websites for TDbank, Bank of Montreal, BMW, Bank of New York, Deutchbank and many more, Martin moved on to managing online businesses leading operations such as The National Post Online, directing media sales operations for Canada's largest portal Sympatico/MSN, launching and managing Yahoo's Canadian search marketing practice and most recently launching the Canadian brand of iPropsect, the worlds largest and oldest search marketing firm.
Kristie Painting is an Internet sales veteran. She joined Olive Media at its inception in 2006. Prior to that, she spent four years at Yahoo! Canada and a year at DoubleClick Canada in strategic sales. Before moving into the online world, she spent five years selling national and retail advertising for urban weeklies, including NOW Magazine.
